19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former mentor his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
Success also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.
His retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.
He defended 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
