Combatants chuckle as they ride on the bed of a transport truck, speeding past a line of nine lifeless forms and driving in the direction of the sinking Sudan's sun.

"Observe this extensive effort. See this instance of genocide," a fighter exclaims.

The fighter grins as he directs the video equipment on his own face and his fellow combatants, their Rapid Support Forces identification clearly shown: "The victims are all going to die like this."

These individuals are celebrating a mass killing that relief organizations believe claimed the lives of more than 2,000 individuals in the Sudan's city of the Darfur city last month.

A City Severed from the Outside

After maintaining the community under siege for almost an extended period, from the summer the RSF moved to strengthen its dominance and prevent access for the surviving inhabitants.
